Surgery for Prolapse
Surgical treatments for prolapse aim to lift the prolapsed organ back into place or repair/remove the prolapsed organ altogether. They include:
- Anterior colporrhaphy – can be done under local anaesthetic as an outpatient procedure
- Posterior colporrhaphy
- Enterocele repair
- Perineorrhaphy
- Paravaginal repair (can be done laparoscopically)
- Hysterectomy with or without Colporrhaphy/Perineorrhaphy
- Uterus/cervix suspension/fixation (laparscopic hysteropexy)
- Vaginal vault suspension/fixation (sacrospinous xation)
- laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy

Post-Operative Care
Patients will normally need a catheter overnight and 2 day stay in hospital followed by 6-8 weeks of gradual recovery depending on the extent of surgery.
